Wagener Sparky (Multi Fuel)

Let Sparky Brighten Your Day

Over a decade ago a conversation was had in Blenheim about a search for a small wood burning stove to suit a mobile home. Many discussions and much research later the Wagener Stoves team saw a gap in the market for a good looking, compact wee fire and in January 2012 Sparky was born.

Sparky has since won 1000's of hearts all over the country and can be found in many diverse situations and locations from holiday homes to mobile homes, tiny houses to rural cottages/sleep outs and even modern new builds. Across the entire country from hunting huts in Stewart Island, DOC huts to new builds in the very Far North and even on boats it seems everyone loves Sparky.

Sparky is a little bit of fun ……. Why not let him brighten your day.  We can get the paint set out and add a dash of colour here and there. Think Log box bases, side panels, air controls and heat shield collars in stunning shimmering rose, marine look metallic blue, sky blue or environmental metallic moss green.

Heat Output

Sparky generates a cosy 7-10kws (*estimated) heat output. A “Lion” wet back 1.2kw can be fitted to heat your hot water.

Wood Size - Depth maximum 285mm (Advised Max 250mm), Diameter maximum 175mm (Advised Max 150mm)

(* We say estimated as we do not have specific test results from the laboratory at the time of clearance testing to the NZ Standard. The 7-10kw was the labs estimate on the controlled burn of Radiata pine fuel based on 3kg with small logs at 100mm x 50mm x 250mm, 2 small logs added approximatly every 30-40 minutes. However in real life situations you may use a variety of fuels and load sizes in your Sparky and this could increase the output. Slowing the air intake could also increase the output as it allow the heat to radiate. Years of solid performance have not disappointed our customers)

Proudly New Zealand Made

Recently (Late 2022) we have re-tested Sparky with extended side panels allowing the B side clearance to be reduced from 550mm to 350mm to a unprotected combustable, we have updated our specifications both online and on our brochures.

Why choose a Multi-Fuel burner if I don’t intend to burn coal ??

  • User gets 100% Control of Primary Air for long and slow burns.

  • Fitted with a grate and ash pan for ease of cleaning out the ashes.

  • Has an additional air control delivering air under the grate for better control and better combustion.

  • Additional air introduced under the grate makes lighting your fire much easier.

  • Additional air assists when the draw on your fire is compromised by still nights.

  • Additional air will assist burning when your fuel is not so well seasoned.

NB remember if you are not burning coal to turn this lower air control off after around 30-40 minutes and just use the top air control to regulate your fire.
